Lauda Finem to set up new .com site – Email Just Recieved – Giltraps

To quote Colin Giltrap: "My favourite haircut uses a screwdriver" - A 1991 Toyota Land Cruiser GLX, similar to the not quite new, sold as new, shiny black one, with the vanishing kilometers; mind-you it probably hadn't effected it's "HORSE" power.

Due to Laudafinem’s “outing” of corrupt goings on in New Zealand in the past week or so we have experienced a little exponential growth. New information is arriving daily, of course the difficulty comes in sifting through it all – Here’s an example; we recieved this email from a recently acquired reader of the blog; very early this morning (obviously a Kiwi, first to see the rising sun and a corresponding drop in the value of their bank balance and vehicles).

Our reader had apparently come across our blog in an unrelated search. Having read our earlier story on Peter Carlton and Giltrap City Toyota, he now wants us to tell the story of his own experiences at “fat boy” Giltraps (apparently it’s a 2nd nickname bandied about amongst “no neck’s” underlings/ junior staff at the gasoline guzzling, odometer winding empire); so guess what Carlos, Tick-a-tee-boo dear, we’re obviously not finished in New Zealand –  its down to windy Wellington after you’re wrapped up the Kenneth Miller story in Whangarei and  (updated) Kaikohe:

Update:

11/11/11, 0800hrs (AEST)

Lauda Finem have received yet another email; this time from what appears to be another of the Giltrap Groups ex- employee’s:

“You have not got the real story on the size of the fraud perpetrated by Giltraps.  I have information that will blow the socks off what has occured and is still occuring inside the Giltrap Group.  I have not time this morning to go into the information at this moment but will write to you again over the weekend”

“Hi there

Really interested in the stories on your site. I was surfing the net to try and catch up with an employee of Giltraps that I knew some years back and I came across your story about Giltraps clocking cars.  I worked for Giltraps in the early 90’s and knew Peter Carleton well as I worked for Giltraps city Toyota when the franchise was located in New North Road.  It moved to Great North Road a while after I left its employ with a bonus that relates to Peter Carleton ordering the “clocking” of cars.  I can’t sat that I knew any of the other guys in the story with out knowing there names.

I had been told by several of the employees that “clocking” of used cars was a regular thing for Giltraps and that even Colin Giltrap knew about it.  One reasonably senior employee had been at a party at a Giltrap residence when it was openly discussed and apparently Colin had referred to his favorite “haircut” [when hsi wife had referred to his hair being long] being done with a screwdriver.

Apparently Giltrap imported very expensive cars and clocked them by up to 50,000kms and then asked for, and obtained a price for a near new car. On numerous occasions Giltrap drove new cars with the odometer “switched off” at his instruction.

Peter Carlton - our reader/informants ex boss in the 1990's

I considered coming forward about the story when the odometer scandal hit New Zealand in the 1990’s but thought that it would not be of interest considering the mass of evidence that was hitting the media.

However I, having read your blog and seen the video of Mr Carleton admitting to ordering the winding of odometers, feel that the time is right. Have the police seen this evidence because I cannot believe that the guys responsible, inclusive of Peter Carleton, have not been arrested and charged.  Anyway back to my knowledge of the “clocking” of one car that I could definately prove was “clocked”.

Part of my job was to source the whereabouts of new cars throughout the Toyota Franchise network and I was given the job of tracking down a luxury Toyota Landcruiser for a celebrity New Zealander who was to pay $110,000.00 for a brand new [no mileage] Landcruiser.

Anyway I found one but it was in either Wellington or Christchurch and ordered that it be shipped.  I was overruled by management with management stating that an employee that was in that city would ‘switch off’ the odometer and drive the vehicle from that city to Auckland where the odometer would still shown nil mileage (say 9kms), and presented to the celebrity purchaser.  When you find out who the celebrity was it will shock all of New Zealand considering what he had just achieved”

Our informant has agreed to meet with Carlos later in the month – keep the information coming readers!

A New Zealand celebrity ripped off ? - OMG, not the true mileage!
