The big three

New Zealand’s big three political forces – anyone able to spot the odd one out?

28/10/2010 – “COMPLAINTS of “widespread police involvement” in local body electioneering in Manurewa and Papakura are being investigated by the police and the Independent Police Conduct Authority.

Inquiries into photos and comments by a police cadet and 11 sworn officers in Manurewa Action Team and Papakura First campaign tabloids have been sparked by complaints from incoming local board members Colleen Brown and Caroline Conroy.”

The New Zealand police stand out when it comes to corruption. In fact the New Zealand police force is right up there with it’s commonwealth member state comrades in Africa. Unlike African Commonwealth nations however, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, all majority Anglo countries police forces have been subjected to Royal Commissions of inquiries of one sort or another, all tasked with rooting out corruption, but not little old New Zealand.

Of course successive New Zealand governments, of all political persuasions, and the somewhat unique Kiwi version of international anti corruption organisation “transparency.org” have over the years had the country’s citizenry believing that their particular police force is unique in that its always been corruption free, beyond reproach even, if one is to believe the police’s own spin doctor Greg O’Connor, who until 2010 was always seen on Kiwi TV screens, almost nightly some weeks, plugging his somewhat unique form of spin doctored crap.

The chairman of an influential business council with close links to the Government’s bid for a Middle East free trade agreement is a CV fraudster.

Fairfax NZ can reveal that Michael Vukcevic – head of the Auckland-based Middle East Business Council – falsely claimed to have a law degree from Victoria University.

Mr Vukcevic was also a director of anti-corruption agency Transparency International when he lied in his successful bid for the top New Zealand job at multinational law and patent firm, Baldwins.

The fraud will embarrass the firm, which was last year a finalist in the New Zealand Law Awards for a second year in a row.

It will also embarrass the Government because of the ties between the council and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and NZ Trade and Enterprise.

As chair of the Middle East council, Mr Vukcevic rubs shoulders with powerful figures from MFAT – including Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully.

The New Zealand chapter of Transperancy International was also recently caught on the hop when one of its directors, Michael Vukcevic, was exposed and forced to resign from law firm for having corruptly faked a law degree on his Curriculum Vitae.

Of course nothing could be further from the truth, New Zealand’s police are seriously and systemically corrupt. Whilst politician’s have for years assisted police and a whole raft of past and present police commissioners in concealing systemic corruption and wrong doing, it just continued to grow. Even the Dame Margeret Bazley inquiry did little to curb the problem, police effecting little more than a series of policies designed to better conceal their members offending.

In fact behind the international politcal scenes New Zealand is seen as somewhat of a third world back water when it comes to policing and it’s judiciary. LF could not even begin to imagine any of the many Australian or Canadian police forces getting away with what recently transpired in the Kim Dotcom case. Had something similar occured in Australia for example those responsible would now likely be police history, perhaps even in prison, but at the very least the various police integrity commissions would have been pawing all over the case.

The reason why New Zealand’s police force stand’s out is that behind the scenes they appear to hold a great deal of political power. Unbeknownst to the average Kiwi voter their democratically elected representatives like to do deals with their police commissioners, the Roast Busters and John Banks cases are but two recent examples where the politicians and police have collaborated to conceal corruption and stage manage the political fallout.

Ex member of parliament and convicted political fraudster John Archibald Banks

Ex member of Parliament and convicted political fraudster John Archibald Banks

The New Zealand police force has largely become a law unto itself and has gained that position by doing the aforementioned favours for its so-called political masters. In the past seven years, under national party rule, it happened first with Police Minister Judith Collins, then under Anne Tolley and now the equally useless Michael Woodhouse.

The police force has been allowed to get away with virtually anything so long as it manages to maintain public confidence and doesn’t cause any negative publicity for its political allies, in this case the National Ltd™ Cult of John Key, While we know the publicity angle is covered by the strategedy of once-removed-ergo-“not me” and a fawning MSM, exactly how the police force manages to maintain public confidence is a complete mystery to any half reasonable observer.

Since the National Ltd™ Cult of John Key managed to worm its way into power, New Zealand has seen an avalanche of wrong doing by police, some of it out and out corruption, gross incompetence and blatent political interference, favours for bent politicians and their associates, representatives like the member for Papakura, Maurice Williamson and his little cashed up emigre political patron Mr Donghua Liu.

Bent Papakura MP, Maurice Williamson and his little cashed up emigre political patron Mr Donghua Liu.

Bent Papakura MP, Maurice Williamson and his little cashed up emigre political patron Mr Donghua Liu.

In fact that whole sorry saga appears to us to have been the police flexing a little political muscle, pulling their pollie mates into line. So whether its the police on the political campaign trail in Judith Collin’s electorate of Papakura, as seen in October 2010, or police bending over backwards to conceal John Banks police statement from the prosecutor that eventually convicted him the police in New Zealand are unique, unconstitutional in fact, anti democratic, unaccountable……even the Kiwi’s police watch dog, the Independent Police Conduct Authority (IPCA) is on the payroll, with corrupt ex-cops heading up their so-called “independent” investigations. Sure the IPCA occasionally throws a scape-goat to the wolves, especially when there are just too many witnesses to hide the offending, but more often than not they too like to bury the larger example of serious systemic police corruption.

The IPCA’s chief investigator Pieter Roozendaal (left) – inextricably linked to the 2005 attempted cover-up of what judge Bruce Davidson later termed a “sick” culture within New Zealands police force.

“Have you had your beating yet”Pieter Roozendaal

But what about ordinary New Zealanders? How does this systemic corruption and incompetence effect the average men and women that have the misfortune of having to deal with the New Zealand police when things go seriously wrong. Below we have compiled a little list, it is by no means exhaustive, in fact it’s more a tip of the Iceberg type list covering the period 2008 to this month, October 2014, roughly the same timeframe that National Ltd™ have been in office.

Make no mistake New Zealand, your police force is the most powerful political force in “Godzone”. There’s just one problem, they can and will ruin’s people lives, in fact you or someone you love could well be next on their list and there’s nothing you can do about it, their power can not be taken away with your vote.

Think about it, is it time to rethink the rules on who gets to appoint the commissioner of Police? Perhaps even the appointing of judges should be looked at. If either the police hierachy or Judiciary are going to play with politics then they should be accountable to the people, not just a bunch of bent politicians! The following list might just change the way you see New Zealands police force and seriously consider how you as a citizen with rights can play a part in keeping these bastards honest, if only for the sake of the police’s next unwitting victim.

The National Ltd™ Cult of John Key has failed to bring any accountability to the police force itself for allowing such a culture of criminality to develop. Even when given the evidence and a report detailing the required action to eliminate the inherent rape culture within the police following the Louise Nicholas affair, few of the recommendations have been put in place and there has been exactly zero follow up.BLiP

Police Association President, Greg O’Connor does himself and the police officers he represents a grave disservice by assuming the role of Counsel for the Defence with every complaint or criticism that is levelled against his members. The result is that the currency of his argument is debased. No sensible person believes that the police are without flaw or that they always get it right. Yet that essentially seems to be Mr O’Connor’s position.” Dr Brian Edwards, social commentator

Don’t forget “Queenstown cop discharged without conviction for racial abuse” – Published: 7:51PM Monday September 22, 2014 Source: ONE News. The link is here:
http://tvnz.co.nz/national-news/queenstown-cop-discharged-without-conviction-racial-abuse-6089117.”A police officer who racially abused a taxi driver in Queenstown has been discharged without conviction. Two weeks ago, Constable Jenny McNee, 44, was found guilty of recklessly using insulting words to Malaysian taxi driver Ganesh Paramanathan. No conviction was entered when she appeared in the Queenstown District Court today and she was discharged. On November 3 last year, Ms McNee used the words “F… off to India, you come here and get all the Kiwi jobs. Eat your f…… curry and f… off to India. This is a Kiwi job.” Southern District Commander, Superintendent Andrew Coster, says evidence heard during the court case did not align with their values or its code of conduct but that they accepted the discharge [so, no disciplinary proceedings then?]. “Everyday our police staff are striving to do their best for their communities [excepting, of course, taxi drivers of Indian ethnic origin],” says Superintendent Coster. “It is appropriate that we hold to account [but not on this occasion] those who don’t meet the standards of behaviour expected of them by the community. Judge Tony Couch said there were no direct consequences of conviction [but I’ll grant a discharge without one anyway] but there was the possibility of indirect consequences relating to future employment [Constable McNee will be promoted to Sergeant soon]. He said the words used were racist and undoubtedly insulting. ”Contemporary New Zealand society simply does not tolerate racism [but I’ll simply tolerate it this time].” Words in parentheses provided by commentator. Coming to TV One soon – the new contemporary drama series “Straight as a Mason’s Square” starring the foul-mouthed medium-hot racist cop Balti McNee and her unctuous boss Superintendent “Mocha” Costa ably supported by the delusional Judge “sit on me and I’ll give you a discharge” Couch.
