ACC, Major privacy breach, worst in New Zealand’s history

Oh no not again, not another massive privacy breach, committed by none other than the Accident Compensation Corporation. Our regular readers will recall a post in November last year when we ran a story alleging major privacy breaches by the Accident Compensation Corporation, don’t say we didn’t warn our readers; some of whom we know are ACC clients.

At the time we wrote to ACC and let them know that they had a major problem, we were however fobbed off with the Corporations spin doctors standard operational bullshit response.

As always the main stream media  seem to to have been waiting in an ambulance at the bottom of the cliff (obviously without “SAT NAV”); at the wheel, none other than Fairfax’s racing ace, Phil “the conman” Kitchin: Privacy breach on 9000 ACC claims

Dear Lauda Finem,
Thank you for your email, ACC takes privacy breaches very seriously.
If you could ask the authors of the emails you have received to contact ACC Complaints we will be able to look into the concerns they have raised.
ACC Complaints can be contacted via email, telephone, fax etc, details below:
Thank you again for taking the time to bring this to ACC’s attention.

Subject: ACC releases confidential records without clients consent?

To Whom It May Concern,

Lauda Finem have this morning been inundated with emails, all from very angry and concerned clients. Your take on the Accident Compensation Corporation’s conduct and in particular that of one of it’s managers would be greatly appreciated. Our research points to the New Plymouth branch and it’s manager, a Ms Janet Tinson.

In any event, the ACC clients emailing us are very unhappy, you may therefore have a bit of a problem on your hands?  Your prompt response with an explanation for the alleged privacy breaches would be appreciated (we have compelling evidence that confidential documents have been forwarded without the appropriate consent to a totally unrelated authority.

Stop press: ACC Claimants confidential files released without their knowledge or permission

One of our staff will later contact the Ministers office for more specific comment.

Regards,

The Team @ Lauda Finem

Important: You should consider this email an open letter, it will be published today 25/11/2011 at 17:00 hrs (AEST)

It appears to us that the ACC spin doctors paid absolutely no attention to our warnings and now they’re paying the price, as are their unfortunate clients.

Its obvious that the Accident Compensation Corporation is run by complete and utter idiots. Take one of their more senior employees, Ms Janet Tinson, New Plymouth’s branch manager. From our dealings with Janet she has shown herself to be an absolute nut job, a woman that is so sure of herself that she thinks that by blocking Lauda Finem’s emails, requesting explanations for her behaviour, she does not have to account for her incompetence.

Ms Tinson managed to erroneously conclude that Lauda Finem was being operated by someone she intensely dislikes and so emailed that person threatening to sue if they did not pull down the story. Once we had been made aware of the email we contacted Janet ourselves and asked her to supply a little evidence, of course she failed to cough; and she’s also failed to sue because its all true.

As an aside, Tinson and her husband it appears had also been incapable of running a farmed abalone business, so what lead the fat arsed movers and shakers at ACC to believe that the incompetent Ms Tinson was capable of keeping clients personal information safe.
